Install and open your page
The website, hostux.page, works without installing anything. The extension adds one thing, which is usually the one people want: Hostux.page in every new tab.
Ways to open it
Section titled “Ways to open it”| Method | Result | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| The website, bookmarked | The page opens from its address | Nothing to install |
| Browser home or startup page | The page opens at launch or with the Home button | Does not change the new tab: that is a separate setting |
| Extension | The page opens in every new tab | Its data is separate from the website’s |
| Phone home-screen shortcut | An icon opens the page | Does not change the new tab either |
Desktop extensions: Firefox (version 142 or later) and Chrome and Chromium browsers. Once installed, open a new tab. If another extension already controls the new tab, the browser may ask which one to keep; otherwise, turn the other extension off.
iPhone and iPad
Section titled “iPhone and iPad”Open the website in Safari, then Share → Add to Home Screen. Desktop extensions cannot be installed on iOS or iPadOS, so the shortcut is the only option. If the entry is missing, check that the page is open in Safari and not in another app’s built-in browser.
Android
Section titled “Android”Use the website, a bookmark or your browser’s add-to-home-screen option. Firefox for Android does not let an extension replace the new tab.
Moving from the website to the extension
Section titled “Moving from the website to the extension”The website and the extension do not share storage. To bring over a configuration made on the website:
- On the website, export the space as JSON.
- In the extension, import the file and tick the sections to keep.
- Add your personal images again: the file does not contain them.
Repeat for each space. You can also connect the website and the extension with sync by code, one space at a time.
An empty page does not mean lost data
Section titled “An empty page does not mean lost data”Settings stay in the browser, profile and mode (website or extension) where you made them. Another profile, a private window or the extension therefore opens on a fresh page, while your configuration still exists elsewhere.
